Providence University has established a formal governance structure to advance sustainable development through the Sustainability Development and Social Responsibility Committee and its dedicated Office of Sustainability Development and Social Responsibility. The Office is led by a Chief Sustainability Officer and a Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer and is supported by two dedicated divisions focusing on sustainability development and university social responsibility. These dedicated staff members and teams have clearly defined responsibilities, including sustainability policy development, green campus planning, net-zero initiatives, sustainability reporting, and participation in international sustainability rankings. This institutionalized structure ensures that advancing sustainable development is a core, ongoing responsibility rather than an ad hoc or voluntary function.
