Courses that teach specifically on climate science and/or environmental sustainability (開設專業認證課程及學系課程)

The iPAS (Industry Professional Assessment System) is a national-level professional certification system promoted by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA)
(https://ipd.nat.gov.tw/ipas/). It is a government-recognized certification framework designed to assess and validate industry-specific professional competencies in Taiwan.

The Net-Zero Carbon Planning and Management Professional Certification is a specialized credential developed for professionals in the fields of carbon management and sustainability. In alignment with the Industry Innovation Talent Enhancement Promotion Program proposed by the Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, we offers MOEA-recognized courses under the iPAS framework (Industry Professional Competency Assessment Courses). Through strengthening the integrated cycle of training, teaching, assessment, and application, the university supports faculty members in obtaining nationally recognized professional certifications. These efforts aim to cultivate key talent required for industrial innovation and industrial upgrading and transformation, expand the implementation of government policy–oriented professional competency assessments, and accelerate industry–academia collaboration. Faculty members holding professional certifications are also encouraged to offer sustainability-related courses on campus, thereby enhancing student learning outcomes.

Providence University has offered the ESG Sustainability Report Manager (Basic Level), ESG Sustainability Report Manager (Advanced Level), and iPAS Net-Zero Carbon Planner (Entry-Level) Certification Training Programme for faculty members. A total of 70 faculty members participated in these training courses.

 

 

In addition, we offer the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Sustainable Environment and Smart Technology (https://sest.pu.edu.tw/), which aims to cultivate professionals with expertise in the circular economy. The programme emphasizes that sustainability involves not only the efficient use of resources, but also the creation of economic value. The development and application of circular materials contribute to carbon reduction, enhance industrial competitiveness, and support the realization of the 2050 net-zero emissions vision.

The programme also incorporates carbon inventory as one of its core training components, equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to quantify and manage carbon emissions. Through this training, students develop enhanced capabilities in planning and implementing effective carbon reduction actions, thereby strengthening their readiness to contribute to sustainable development and climate action initiatives.
