12.2.5    Policy for minimisation of plastic use

In alignment with the our commitment to environmental sustainability and the development of a green campus, Providence University has implemented a series of plastic reduction policies. These measures aim to significantly reduce the use of single-use plastic products across campus. The policies are as follows:
  1. Restriction on Single-Use Tableware
All on-campus dining establishments are prohibited from proactively providing disposable plastic tableware, including but not limited to cups, bowls, plates, chopsticks, forks, spoons, and straws. This regulation applies to dine-in services. Members of the university community are encouraged to use reusable tableware to reduce plastic waste.
  2. Ban on Single-Use Plastic Straws
Restaurants and shops within the university premises shall not offer single-use plastic straws. Vendors are required to provide alternatives such as lid-equipped cups or paper straws, and are encouraged to promote the use of personal reusable straws to foster environmentally responsible consumption habits.

  1. Restriction on Plastic Shopping Bags
To minimize the use of plastic bags, campus shops are not permitted to provide plastic shopping bags free of charge. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to bring their own reusable shopping bags. This policy is part of a broader initiative to control the use of single-use plastic products and reduce plastic pollution on campus.

Providence University urges all members of the campus community to actively support and comply with these policies, contributing collectively to a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment.
