8.2.3 Employment policy on discrimination
Providence University, in accordance with Taiwan's government regulations, is committed to creating a working environment that emphasizes equality and opposes any form of discrimination. In recruitment, recognition, promotion, and other processes related to faculty and staff, we strictly consider the professional qualifications and experience required for the position, without any differential treatment based on gender, race, language, religion, political affiliation, place of residence, sexual orientation, marital status, or disability.
Therefore, PU has implemented various employment policies to prevent workplace discrimination. For instance, PU established the Gender Equality Education Committee, which focuses on administration, education, prevention, and campus safety. Its goal is to promote gender equality, uphold personal dignity, and create gender-friendly educational resources and a campus environment. In terms of hiring Indigenous people, PU follows the Indigenous Peoples Employment Rights Protection Act to ensure the hiring quota for Indigenous employees, safeguarding the employment rights and economic well-being of minority groups. If employees encounter gender discrimination, they may appeal to the committee. Additionally, to prevent employees from being unlawfully violated by employers, supervisors, colleagues, clients, or other third parties in the workplace, PU has established the "Providence University Sexual Harassment Prevention Act" to protect employees from employment discrimination and other violations of human rights.
