12.3.1 Waste tracking
PU has established a proper waste handling system.
General Waste: The genera waste on campus is handled by an outsourced cleaning company. Four-category trash bins are placed inside buildings, and two-category bins for general waste and recyclable materials are placed outdoors. The outsourced cleaning staff is responsible for transporting waste from the buildings to the central waste disposal station, where it is sorted. To reduce household waste, our school strongly promotes waste separation and resource recycling. During waste sorting, the classification is checked, and the waste is sent to the resource recycling facility, where a final inspection is conducted. Non-recyclable general waste is then transported by a qualified disposal company to the Taichung Incineration Plant for proper disposal.
Laboratory Waste: PU has designated safety and health management personnel for each department's laboratory to oversee the classification and management of laboratory waste liquids. They consolidate and manage data on waste generation and storage for each department and provide monthly reports to the Division of Environmental Safety and Sanitation, which then submits the information online and arranges for qualified disposal companies to conduct relevant waste removal and processing operations.
Infectious Waste: Our school has a dedicated cold storage unit for laboratory waste, where infectious waste is properly stored. Each month, a qualified Class A waste disposal company is contracted to remove and process this waste.
