11.2.2 Public access to libraries
Luking Library
In 1953, library was established at the old campus on Fuxing Road, Taichung City. In 1964, construction of a new library began, named "Luking Library" to commemorate the university's founder, Mother Marie Gratia Luking of the Sisters of Providence. In 1976, a "Music Appreciation Room" was established within the library.
The library was relocated to the new campus in Shalu in 1988, and an expansion project was undertaken in 2002. In 2015, Luking library was voted one of the "Top 10 Must-Visit Libraries" by the Library Association of the Republic of China. In 2016, it was certified by International Federation of Library Association and Institutions( IFLA) as one of the "1001 Libraries to See Before You Die."

PU Luking Libary offers free registration for the public to access and use library spaces and reading facilities. Members of the public can apply for either the "Library Friend Reading Card" or the "Library Friend Borrowing Card." With these cards, they can swipe for entry to the library, read books and publications, and borrow books. Each individual can borrow up to 5 books at a time, with a borrowing period of 30 days per book. Additionally, if there is a need for tours and guided visits, visitors can apply for entry to the library for these purposes.
Each floor is equipped with accessible bathrooms and water dispensers for public use. Elevators are also available for transporting books and for disabled students.
