11.2.5 Arts and heritage contribution

Providence University actively promotes local arts and culture through the organization of concerts, theatrical performances, and graduate drama exhibitions. These events are open not only to the university’s faculty, staff, and students but also to the general public and community members. These public performances include:

Ongoing Programes:

  • Music Concerns and Performances : The Art Center holds annual music performance events, inviting both domestic and international bands and musicians.  In the 2024 academic years, a total of 10 musical performances were held, with 3,397 participants.         
  • Graduation project production(Theater Performance) To showcase and share the students' learning achievements, each department holds annual graduation performances. For example, the Department of English Language, Literature and Linguistics presented an English drama graduation performance titled "The Greatest Showman," which took place on May 26, 2025, at the Small Theater of the St. Peter Hall on campus. The scriptwriting, casting, set design, prop production, costumes, and rehearsals for "The Greatest Showman" are all handled entirely by the students.  On May 1, 2025, the Department of Spanish Language and Literature performed "Bodas de Sangre". The students showcased the successful culmination of their four years of Spanish studies in this graduation exhibition. With fluent Spanish dialogue and superb acting, they provided the audience with a beautiful evening.
   

 

  • Music and Dance performances held for the communitiesStudent clubs at the university, including the Chinese Orchestra, Guitar Club, Piano Club, and Wind Ensemble, regularly visit middle and elementary schools to integrate music learning into the students' daily lives. In addition, the Hip-Hop Dance Club and Fire Dance Charm Research Club engage in community service and perform to entertain senior residents, thereby strengthening the connection between the campus and the community.   In the 2024 academic years, a total of 18 musical and dance performances were held, with 2,218 participants.  To celebrate its 68th anniversary in the 2024 academic year, the university hosted a concert featuring multiple artists. The event brought together faculty, students, and local community residents for a festive musical experience.

  • Local Arts ExhibitionsThrough the exhibition space in the Luking Library, Providence University regularly organizes various art exhibitions, such as photography exhibitions, paper sculpture exhibitions, model exhibitions, and digital art exhibitions.    A total of 7 art exhibitions were held, attracting 10,512 visitors in the 2024 academic year.
