The collection and disposal of general waste, recycling resources, and food waste on the Providence University campus are conducted in accordance with the Waste Disposal Act, Resource Recycling Act, and other relevant regulations. These tasks are contracted to qualified disposal facilities. PU has formulated a business waste disposal plan in accordance with the laws, which has been reviewed and approved by the Taichung City Government.
The university's policy on landfill and recycling disposal is as follows:
-
General Household Waste:
All buildings on campus are equipped with four-category waste and recycling bins. In addition to these bins, there are also food waste bins and used battery recycling containers placed beside the waste bins. In outdoor areas, there are two-category waste bins. The waste is collected by the contracted cleaning company and transported to the university's waste and recycling center for final sorting. After sorting, the general waste and recyclables are handed over to qualified disposal contractors for transportation off-campus for further processing.
-
Regulated Scrap Items:
Regulated scrap items are categorized by their source into construction waste and regulated scrap materials. Construction waste on campus is removed by the construction contractors (the waste removal cost is included in the contracting fee). Regulated scrap items are handled according to the property management regulations, through sale, donation, or trade-in. Items with no recycling value are disposed of as general business waste, with removal entrusted to a licensed disposal service.
