12.2.3 Policy waste disposal - hazardous materials

The policy and process on waste disposal is as follows:
General Waste: General waste generated on campus is categorized, stored, and processed according to the university's waste management procedures. In 2024, the total weight of general waste cleared was approximately 287.59 tons.

Infectious Waste: Infectious waste is managed and disposed of according to the Laboratory Infectious Business Waste Management Regulations and relevant government laws. The Department of Food and Nutrition (Food & Nutrition Department) has an Animal Experiment Management Committee that must approve any animal experiments before they proceed. Infectious waste produced by the Counseling and Health Center and the Food & Nutrition Department is properly stored in refrigerated containers and regularly disposed of by a certified Class A waste disposal company. In 2024, the total weight of infectious waste cleared and processed was approximately 150 kilograms.

Laboratory Waste: The disposal of laboratory waste liquids is conducted in accordance with Article 28 of the Waste Disposal Act. The university contracts with government-approved disposal companies for one or two annual waste removal and processing sessions. Disposal manifests and proper handling documentation are retained for inspection, ensuring that the generation, storage, and disposal of laboratory waste comply with national environmental protection and safety regulations. In 2024, the total weight of laboratory waste cleared and processed was approximately 4,245 kilograms.
