To promote sustainable commuting, Providence University has undertaken several initiatives on campus, including:
- Pedestrian-priority trail: The campus features pedestrian-only areas and crosswalks on roads to provide safe, pedestrian-priority zones. Additionally, the central axis of the campus is vehicle-free, prioritizing pedestrian access.
- Campus shuttle buses: Since 2016, after coordination with the Taichung City Government, city bus routes have started to enter the campus. Currently, there are 3 bus routes operating within the campus, with 4 bus stops set up to facilitate movement for faculty, staff, and students. Additionally, since 2022, the campus shuttle buses have incorporated green energy electric buses to futher reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
- Car sharing programme: The university provides official vehicles for staff to share when traveling for business, reducing the need for individual use of other fuel-based transportation.
- Electric scooters and golf cart services: The university provides electric scooters and golf carts for use by faculty, staff, and visitors.
- U-bike (public-sharing bikes): A bicycle station provided by the Taichung City Government is installed at the campus entrance. This station offers a convenient transportation option between bus stops and the campus for faculty, staff, students, and visitors, reducing the use of fuel-powered vehicles.
- Charging and battery exchange station: To encourage the use of electric vehicles among faculty, staff, and students, the university has set up charging stations and battery exchange stations for electric scooters.
